Barbed Wire Tattoos for Tough Looking Skin

Posted by Tattooaholic

barbed wire tattooThe image of barbed wire summons up thoughts of isolated desert places and tumble weeds.  It’s a symbol of strength against the elements and intruders.  This wire fencing with its sharp spikes is respected by man and beast alike, as it is strong enough to stand up to human intervention and brute force. Barbed wire has been around since the 1800s when a cheap and efficient fence was needed to keep livestock from wandering away or being stolen.  It’s said this invention tamed the Wild West.  These days, giant loops of barbed wire can be seen atop prison walls helping to keep the most dangerous members of society locked away from the rest of us.

Opting for a barbed wire tattoo is a declaration of personal power and toughness. It can say much about your personality in wanting to display a line or loop of this prickly, steel wire someplace on your own body.  It also recalls the spirit and strength of the old west and if that’s what you identify with there might be no better way to let others know this about you.

Before going to get a tattoo, it’s a good idea to sit down and look over pictures and drawings of other people’s tattoos.  With a simple tattoo like barbed wire, the colors are usually very basic such as grey or black.  Some people add flames, or have the wire drawn in patterns such as a Celtic knot. For a very different look, it can be drawn to appear as if bloody barbed wire is poking into or out of the skin symbolizing pain or suffering. You can also pick the type of barbed wire you want to have just the right size spikes and the perfect length and width of the wire for you to customize its general appearance.

Because barbed wire looks so natural as a loop or bands some individuals have the tattoo encircle their bicep, wrist or ankle.

The best way to get the ideal tattoo exactly as you want is to politely ask when you notice someone who has an artistically pleasing tattoo where they got it.  You can also check around websites for local tattoo salons and artist. Look at pictures they have of prior work they’ve done, and also look for customer testimonials. If the salon has more than one tattoo artist, then make sure the quality is same for all the artist and the person who will be working on your barbed wire tattoo can draw the representation you want.  Make sure the artist has a clear understanding of how you want the tattoo to look.  Remember this will be a permanent skin decoration so be confident your barbed wire tattoo will be the one you want.
