Bring Out The Gemini in You With Gemini Tattoos

Posted by Tattooaholic

gemini tattoo designYou do not have to be born under the sign of Gemini to get a tattoo of the twins’ symbol, but who would not want to be?  Gemini is the sign for all those who were born from May 21st to June 21st.  The ending day of this sign signals the very moment of the summer solstice.  Gemini is the third astrological sign in the Zodiac.  It originates from the constellation of Gemini.  Gemini is closely associated with the planet Mercury and is considered to be ruled by this planet making this a somewhat masculine sign.  Under this sign, you will find charming optimistic, creative and smart people.  Geminis are compatible with many different types of people but especially people born under the Libra and Aquarius signs.  They share common attributes such as an airy demeanor and intelligence.

The symbol for Gemini can be either literally a pair of twins or two vertical lines side by side with horizontal lines at the top and bottom.  This symbol can be confused with the Roman numeral two.  Because of its simplicity, this sign’s symbol can be used with complex backgrounds or simple ones. If you use only the symbol and perhaps a one color background there is some danger of the tattoo being too plain.

If you put a tribal spin to the tattoo it can give it a kicky edge.  These can look really good on men or women, but they can come off looking somewhat masculine. Tribal tattoos can also make this single image blend in with other more stylized tattoos you either already have or might get.  If you want a more feminine look, you might try adding a bright background and some floral images to the Gemini tattoo.  For instance, flowers can climb one of the horizontal lines or a butterfly can come to rest on one of the vertical lines on top.  This gives the tattoo more appeal if there are other busier tattoos vying for attention.

This type of tattoo can be large or small. A small tattoo used with floral designs would look on the shoulder, upper arm, lower arm, the thigh, ankle or foot.  Used with a tribal band it would work well on the bicep, lower arm, wrist or ankle.

A larger, more detailed Gemini tattoo would look good as part of a half-sleeve or full sleeve design.  With a detailed pagan, Roman, Greek or new age background, it would look good across the shoulders, down the back, across the chest, across the abdomen or even wrapped around a leg.

Check with your tattoo artist and see if there are any concepts you can look at to get ideas. Check on the internet as well because new ideas are being posted to tattooing web sites all the time.  This is a great tattoo as it allows the wearer to share something personal about their life with the world.
