Star tattoos are incredibly versatile. They can have wide variety of meanings depending on how they are drawn and colored as well as what might be in their background.  Stars might very well be the most innovative form of body art.  They can be large and detailed with fantastic magical backgrounds. Smalls stars can be placed anywhere on the body and yet still easily hidden if a moment should arise when having a tattoo might be a problem.  They also look great anywhere and at any time.  Most of the time stars have the ability to cheer us up. Star tattoos can mean many different things. This multipurpose aspect of their makeup may account in some measure for their popularity. Star tattoos can convey everything from the tangible such as the night sky or nature’s beauty to the not-so-tangible such as magic, success and even the wonders of the universe.  They can also mean special things to people who have agreed on a certain significance being given a specific representation of a star. For instance, a six point star has significance to persons of the Jewish faith while a five point star has meaning for those who practice Wicca.  The five point star drawn without connecting lines run inside it is associated with military power and war.  It’s a good idea while putting your thoughts together and deciding how you want your star tattoo represented to do a little research. You don’t want your unique image to look too much like a local fraternity design or to send out a message you didn’t intend.

Stars can be hollow, pointed, rounded or raised, plain, fancy or even made to appear glittery.  Be sure of where you want them placed ahead of time.  What looks good among your fellow employees at one job site might not seem so at a more conservative place later in your career so be sure to place the star where you really want the tattoo to be.  Star tattoos can be in many different colors; practically any color you choose will work even white or black.  As with the placement be sure of what colors you get as well since a grouping of brilliant red and deep blue stars on your back might mean never being able to wear a white shirt at a conservative job site.

Before you even go for the tattoo, try to draw out the star design and the colors you want it to be.  Talk to your local tattoo artists and see if they have any designs similar to the one you want, and if they are willing to work with you on the image if they don’t. A small star tattoo can be a good first tattoo as a way to see if you enjoy having body art.
