Armband tattoos are generally seen as a masculine tattoo and come in many different fashions. Armband tattoos are usually seen in tribal tattoo art, lettering and are usually placed on the upper arm of a man.

There are some changes that you can make to make this armband tattoo more feminine and a little more suitable for a woman. Generally you will not seen women with arm band tattoos, but there are those who still choose to get this style of tattoo. If a woman decides to get an armband tattoo, you can decrease the size of the tattoo to help it fit nicer on the arm. Men who get armband tattoos usually get the tattoo larger, upward of four inches and can be anywhere between the shoulder and the elbow. For a woman, choosing a smaller tattoo will help make it look more feminine as it will not be as bold or take up most of their arm. You will want a tattoo that reduces the focus on the tattoo and that gives your arm a softer touch.

Another change that you can do to reduce the masculine nature associated with the armband tattoo is to add girly or feminine features to the tattoo. For a woman if you add tattoo designs such as floral designs, soft colors and softer lines, you will have an armband tattoo that is more for a girl than for a guy.

Adding color to even a tribal armband tattoo can also help create a more unique tattoo for a woman than for a man.

Manny Ramirez Tattoos

Posted by Tattooaholic

manny ramirez tattoosManny Ramirez Shows His Spirit In Tattoos

It is almost expected in the masculine world of sports that players will get tattoos, and this expectation is seldom disappointed. After all if you are standing with your upper arms exposed to millions of people you should at least be able to make your own personal statement.  Players such as Jason Giambi and Manny Ramirez usually go for a type of tattoos most favored by men — either the tribal or hip hop style.

Manny Ramirez tattoo preferences seem to be hip hop as the Major League Baseball left fielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers has a prominent one on his upper arm.  Manny was born Manuel Aristides Ramirez on May 30th 1972 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  He is one of only 25 people to hit more than 500 career home runs.

No one is sure why Manny Ramirez tattoo favorites are as they are, or why he chose the tattoo he now sports, but much about this sports celebrity is mysterious.  He has been reported to have an almost single minded obsession with the sport of baseball.  This seems to be the story all his life as his high school coach once said “If I told Manny to be there for a game at 1 p.m., he was there two hours early.”  He occasionally forgets important things and once allegedly left his paycheck in a pair of boots at a visitor’s clubhouse, while expending all his energy on the game.  A phrase has started up regarding his behavior; “That’s just Manny being Manny,” people will say.

This single minded purpose goes well with the two types of Manny Ramirez tattoos.  The tribal prints and the hip hop shouldn’t really be a surprising choice.  Tribal tattoos have a long history.  They started in ancient times and tattoos came from designs actually being cut into the skin and then rubbing the wound with ink, ashes or other agents. These early patterns and designs are still the basis for modern tribal tattoos.

Hip hop tattoos are designs reflecting the culture of rap music.  Images coming from urban areas, prisons and gangsta influences and these usually have strong community or personal meanings to the wearer.

Some fans of the sport of baseball have gotten tattoo representations of their heroes. These can be taken from pictures of the players and can be incredibly realistic depending on the tattoo artist’s skill.

Choosing an Armband Tattoo

Posted by Tattooaholic

armband tattoosArmband tattoo designs are some of the most popular tattoos around these days.  Everywhere you go, you probably see plenty of armband tattoos.  Everyone has them, from businessmen and women to bikers. Some people hide them beneath their sleeves while others display them proudly.  It is a classic choice for a tattoo, and if you want to get one, you will have plenty to choose from.  You can look online for designs.  Even if you want your own unique design, you can still look for ideas.

Despite it being a common choice, the variety of designs will ensure that your armband tattoo will be original. You can find some great designs online, including Celtic knots, tribal patterns, Aztec symbols, Japanese Kanjis, celestial art, dragons, flowers, barbed wire and so forth.  There are plenty of designs available for men and women both.  You can choose anything from a snake to a skull with flames or a floral design to a Hawaiian theme.

You could also mix things up.  If you want to combine various elements together into one unique pattern, you will be glad to know that the possibilities are endless.  For instance, you could choose Celtic knotting highlighting a Kanji symbol, or a circle of flowers mixed in with barbwire.  If you have mixed ancestry and want to combine symbols and elements from each culture, you can do that also.

If you feel kinship with any particular animal or creature, an animal design will make a great armband tattoo.  What about a horse or a unicorn?  A bird or a dragon?   Many people like exotic animal designs such as tigers, lions and wolves.  For a more feminine design, you can choose a butterfly or lady bug design.  Incorporating animals or creatures into an armband tattoo is a really popular idea.

Armband tattoos are often the first choice of tattoo for many people.  If this is going to be your first tattoo, then you are not alone.  Whether you want to keep it hidden under your sleeve or display it, make sure you get a design that means something to you.  Sometimes people choose a design just for its appearance, and do not think of its deeper meaning.  They do not realize that it will be on their arm forever, and they may get tired of it after awhile.  If you choose something with symbolism and meaning, then you’ll be able to appreciate it more.

Any symbol or image you can imagine will look great on your arm.  However, you should choose something that matches your personality.  Look online for ideas.  Read about the symbolism and meaning of certain tattoos.  Explain to your artist what it is that you want.  Print out designs that you like and ask if there is any way you can get them personalized in a way that is unique to you.
