A Large Or Small Dragonfly Tattoo?

Posted by Tattooaholic

large dragonfly tattoo on the backA Large Or Small Dragonfly Tattoo?

If you are looking to get a cute tattoo instead of something more manly or bold, a dragonfly might be the right tattoo for you. Dragonfly tattoos are good for both men and women, but more women get the dragonfly tattoo than do guys. Deciding on the colors for your dragonfly tattoo might be the hardest part, because these tattoos can be extremely colorful or you could always just stick to the basics, and go with an all black tattoo.

colorful dragonfly tattooChoosing the size of your dragonfly tattoo will be your next step. Should you get a large or small dragonfly tattoo and where to put it? The smaller the dragonfly the less details you will be able to add to it, yet the bigger the dragonfly tattoo the more details and colors you will be able to add. Small dragonfly tattoos usually go on the ankle, wrist or the back of the neck, but if you are looking to get a larger dragonfly tattoo then the arms, legs, back or the chest works better. It also depends of if you are a guy or a girl, for where your dragonfly tattoo will be put. Most guys like to have their tattoos put on their chest, while girls like the lower back or ankles.

Large tattoos tend to look nicer on guys than they do on girls. It’s just something about a tattoo that looks masculine. That’s not to say a girl cannot get a tattoo and have it not look nice. Look at girls with dragonfly tattoos; they usually look pretty sweet if you ask me! Dragonfly tattoos are some of the nicest tattoos I have seen online.

Fairy Tattoo Designs

Posted by Tattooaholic

fairy tattoosFairy Tattoo Designs Are Both Popular and Unique!

Fairy tattoos are very popular with women these days.  Fairies are beautiful and enchanting creatures that are often associated with femininity.  Fairy tattoo designs are usually combined with other elements such as butterflies and flowers in order to create a pretty and magical piece of art.  The most common areas to get a fairy tattoo are on the ankle, lower back or around the navel.

Fairies are often thought of as being pretty, colorful creatures, and are therefore the perfect choice for those who want a bright tattoo.  A variety of bright colors can be blended beautifully in a fairy design.  Many people go with this choice because they want to keep in touch with their inner child.  Fairies are also associated with happiness and magic, and people get these tattoos to remind them of the bright side of life.

Because fairies can be drawn in countless ways and with any colors, the possibilities are endless.  Looking online for fairy tattoo designs will bring up thousands of different choices, all of which can be changed a bit to create a unique new design.  Women can get their fairy tattoo designed in their favorite colors in any style they want.  These little creatures also look great in any type of setting, such as a flower field or nighttime sky.

Many celebrities have fairy tattoos, including Britney Spears, Amber Tamblyn, Jaime King and others.  In fact, many people believe that Britney started the fairy tattoo trend!  It does seem as if they became really popular after she got one on her lower back a few years ago.  Whether she did have a large role in the popularity of fairy tattoo designs or not is a moot point now, as fairies have literally taken over the tattoo world!

One popular fairy tattoo design is Tinkerbelle from Peter Pan.  She is perhaps one of the most famous fairies of all time.  Not only is she cute, but many women choose her because she symbolizes their inner child.  She is also a whimsical little trickster, despite her appearance, and many young women can feel a connection to that.  The saying “appearances can be deceiving” applies to Tinkerbelle!

Fairy tattoo designs can be drawn in a certain style, such as tribal or Celtic.  Those who want a unique tattoo that suits their personality and preferences can link fairy designs with others.  Women can combine elements from their ethnic heritage with fairy tattoo designs!  Fairies also go well with characters and symbols, which is great for those who want to add Kanji, Chinese characters or Runes into the mix.

All in all, one cannot go wrong with a fairy tattoo.  The infinite possibilities allows for personalization!  Fairy tattoo designs are some of the easiest to personalize, so those looking for something unique will not have any trouble at all with this type of tattoo.  The internet offers thousands and pictures of fairies to give an individual some ideas about where to go with her tattoo.

Lower Back Tattoos Are Related To Tramp Stamp Tattoos?

Posted by Tattooaholic

lower back tattoosLower back tattoos became very popular in the late 1990s. They are far more popular among women than men. These tattoos are usually designed to be sexy or feminine and these tattoos in particular have drawn some criticism as being ‘tramp stamps’ or indicating a willingness to be sexually active.  These critics are of course people who know very little about tattooing or body art. People get their tattoos in various locations of their body for their own reason and for anyone else to make such generalizations are of course ridiculous.

There are many reasons that lower back tattoos are popular including the fact that even though the small of the back isn’t the largest place on a person’s back it does have a lot of space on a relative smooth area almost free of bone.  This area won’t be stretched later in pregnancy as the abdomen and stomach will, and it can be easily covered or displayed depending on what clothing is worn.  This is a low risk area for a tattoo to get an infection. Over all there are many pluses to getting a lower back tattoo.

Owning to the shape and space available in this area a Celtic cross is a good choice for this spot.  There’s space for the detail and the shape will be very dramatic here. There’s room in this area to even put in names in A Celtic script or even personal mottos. A Celtic knot wouldn’t be a bad choice here either.

Tribal tattoos can be placed on the lower back and look even more exotic than they usually do on other spots of the body.  Tribal tattoos are stylized representations of various tribal designs that have been seen for centuries.  These designs have been passed down for generations and have deep meanings. These designs can be used in dramatic combinations like Greek gods, wolves, horses, tigers, snakes, images of fire, scorpions, coiled dragon and really any mythological beast or idea.  Angelina Jolie, famous Hollywood actress has a highly detailed and stylized tiger on her lower back.

Softer images work well here as well.  Butterflies can be etched with detail and grace you wouldn’t have space for on the shoulder or wrist.  There can be done in pastel shades of light green, blue, pink, grey, orange, or purple then outlined in darker shades like red, dark blue, green, and black.

Lower back tattoos such as the flower work well too for the same reason. You can have a flowing vine, or single blossom depending on what you want to convey. Very popular on the lower back is the rose which indicates love, water lily to indicate a pure heart, a daisy meaning an innocent nature, and a hibiscus to show you are a delicate and intricate beauty.

You can also simply use lettering on the lower back with mottos or sayings in scripts or various fonts.

The Multitude Of Megan Fox Tattoos

Posted by Tattooaholic

megan fox shoulder tattooLots of stars have tattoos, but the Megan Fox tattoo collection rivals them all. Angelina Jolie has nothing on this young actress who is a human canvas for art and attitude. She’s the love interest in Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.  Before taking on movie roles, she was Faith the daughter on the series Hope & Faith.  Her tattoos are an interesting blend of graphics and lettering art, and it’s obvious she puts a great deal of thought into each one. In most cases, it appears too that she seeks out good artistic talent.

On her right shoulder in old English script she has a reference to the Shakespeare’s tragedy King Lear: “We will all laugh at gilded butterflies.” If you look at the complete quote from King Lear to his daughter Cordelia you can get a better idea of what she’s trying to say with the tattoo. From the sound of it, the young actress has a sense of the ironic.

On her left ribcage also in an old English script there’s another saying: “there once was a little girl who never knew love until a boy broke her HEART”. This is thought to have been completely designed by the actress herself although the significance hasn’t been made public.

On her right inner forearm, she has a likeness of Marilyn Monroe. In this image Marilyn looks as she did during her own hay days during the late 1950s and early 1960s.  The shading and detail on this tattoo are excellent. There’s no saying what the attraction is for Marilyn, but its apparent Megan feels some connection.

On Megan’s lower leg right above her ankle she has a crescent moon that overlaps a five pointed star. There are many different meanings that can be read into the tattoo, but Fox isn’t saying why she chose this tattoo.  The moon is ranges from a deep yellow at the edge to a rosy orange on the inside.  The star is blue gray.  Again the shading and style for this tattoo is excellent and looks like it could easily be the illustration for a magnificently well-illustrated book.

megan fox chest tattooAnother Megan Fox tattoo is located several inches below her naval right above her bikini line.  It’s the name of her long time friend Brian Austin Green. Green stars in Terminator, The Sarah Conner Chronicles.  They’ve dated for the last four years.  His name is written in script right between her pubic bone and hip. Sounds like it might be serious.

Megan has two tribal tattoos depicting waves flowing into the yin and yang symbol. This tattoo is a dark color and located on her left wrist.  Megan also has Chinese lettering done on her neck just below her hair.  She has the Chinese symbol of strength written in black ink. The style is basic calligraphy so it’s a very strong looking tattoo.
