I was just interested in looking at some tattoos online such as back tattoos and wrist ones and all different kinds just to get some ideas and a feel for them.

Does anyone know of a website that has all kinds of pictures of tattoos? This is a great site, they just need more pictures!

What Is The Best Camera To Use For Tattoo Pictures?

Posted by Tattooaholic

tattoo cameraI’m a tattoo artist and i’ve used a few types of cameras already and i’m not satisfied with the picture quality of them. All the pictures i take are very up close i’d say about 2″ to 24″ depending on where the tattoo is placed and what the tattoo is. So if anybody could help me out with this it would be great.

Finding Tattoo Pictures For Inspiration Of Unique Tattoos

Posted by Tattooaholic

unique tattoos for inspirationFinding Tattoo Pictures For Inspiration Of Unique Tattoos

Looking at pictures of tattoos is the number one way of finding inspiration for a new tattoo design. People look through tattoo picture galleries to find inspiration for their next tattoo idea. If you visit any tattoo shop you will see pictures covering the walls of tattoos that have been done in that shop or by the artist in that tattoo shop. Not only will you find hundreds of pictures covering the walls but you will find books full of tattoos and ideas. By finding a picture of a tattoo your tattoo artist will be able to replicate the idea and can even make something up that is unique from the picture but follow the same idea.

So where should you look to find the best tattoo pictures for inspiration? Most people look on the internet for inspiration since there are literally millions of tattoo pictures posted. When someone gets a new tattoo they want to show it off to the world, they will post it on the internet or on a site that allows upload of pictures. By far the internet is the best place to find inspiration for a tattoo design, but there are other places you can look also. Most cities have a tattoo shop where you can go inside and look through books and on their walls. These places might be the best place to find something unique and different because if it’s a design that was done in that shop, its most likely not been posted on the internet for the world to see.

You can also have a tattoo custom designed by a tattoo artist. Tattoo artist are paid to come up with new and unique designs and since they specialize in creating tattoos, they might be the best people to talk to for inspiration of a new tattoo. You can be sure a tattoo artist in a shop has done hundreds if not thousands of designs, so they should know how to create a design you are looking for just by talking to them. If you want the easy way of finding inspiration for a tattoo, you can always do what everyone else does, and that is by searching the internet for tattoo pictures.

Tribal Tattoos – Tribal Tattoo Pictures

Posted by Tattooaholic

The art of tribal tattooing dates back thousands of years.  It was practiced by many people all over the world.  Each tribe had their own way of applying the tattoos, and their own meaning for the different tattoos.  It is believed that some were tattooed to show their importance within the tribe.  Others were tattooed to show their occupations.

Different Tribes

Tattooing was used for different reasons by different tribes.  Some tribes used tattoo as a rite of passage into adulthood.  Others believed that tattooing could restore health.  The Timucus Tribe used tattooing as a method of showing wealth, tribe affiliation, direct family, acts of strength, and many others.

The method of tattooing also varied from tribe to tribe.  The Maori tribe used seriated stone chisels to cut grooves into the body and then inserted pigment.  The Timucus Tribe punctured holes in the flesh using varying objects, and then rubbed soot and berry juice into the wounds.  The Polynesian Tribe actually used different sized chisels to apply their tattoos.

Although the meanings of the different symbols have faded, tribal designs are still a common choice among many.  The designs consist of bold dark lines that stand out, and can be seen from a distance.

Tribal designs are great choices for most locations.  They are great on the upper arm and across the upper back.  The bold lines and the dark color are visible from a distance.   They can also be used in wrist band and ankle band tattoos.  They are used in almost every location on the body.  Tribal symbols can also be incorporated into other designs, and still look amazing.

The Advantages of Tribal Tattoos

  • Tribal designs use black ink, which holds up well over time to wear and tear.
  • They are very popular, and most artists have a lot of experience giving them.
  • They look great in several places.

Common Tribal Tattoos

  • Tribal Sun Tattoos
  • Tribal Dragon Tattoos
  • Tribal Rose Tattoos
  • Tribal Bear Tattoos
  • Tribal Cross Tattoos

Tribal tattoos in the past have been more popular with men; however there are some designs that look great on women.  The tribal butterfly looks great on a shoulder or ankle.  The tribal rose also looks great on women because of its feminine appearance.  These tattoos are also mainly done in black with a little color added in for accent.

The reason for getting the tattoos and the method of receiving them have changed, but tribal tattoos are still very common today.
