Why Do People Get Full Body Tattoos, They Are Totally Ugly

Posted by Tattooaholic

I cannot see the attraction in marking up your body with ugly markings. I have never seen a tattoo that is attractive. Well, ok, maybe like a small rose flower or something benign. But those entire arms, chest, torso covering tattoos are just plain ugly to me.

Opinions or explanations of why they are obtained would be interesting to me.

How To Cover Up Ugly Tattoos For A Wedding?

Posted by Tattooaholic

ugly tattoo done badOne of my bridesmaids is going to be my fiances sisters and she has these really badly done tattoos on both of her upper arms (like one she let her friends do and one says “foxy” and its supposed to be a cover up, but you can see whats under it.) I don’t want to have to make all my bridesmaids wear ugly dresses with sleeves just so she can cover her tattoos up. Are there any ways to cover them up without clothing, like will makeup work? Any ideas would help.

Best Advice When Getting A Tattoo To Represent A Child?

Posted by Tattooaholic

child tattoosI am getting two tattoos to represent each of my children. I want something completely unique (no names, birthdays, hand or foot prints, etc). What is the best advice that you can give to help me pick a unique and meaningful tattoo for my boys? I will probably design it myself and have someone draw it, but I just can’t think of the best way to represent them without having a tattoo that everybody else has. Thanks!

Lower Back “Tramp Stamp” Tattoos Are Super Ugly

Posted by Tattooaholic

winged heart tramp stamp tattooAre those hideously ugly tattoos that so many young ladies are getting on their lower backs today the stupidest thing you have ever seen? Is it proper for women to scar themselves this way and then display the disfigured bodies for the world to see? Should they get the tattoos on their foreheads instead so that their husbands won’t have to look at the tattoos during “intimate moments”? Even movies are starting to make fun of those tramp stamp tattoos, like Mall Cop!

Angelina Jolie Tattoos – Meanings Of Angelina Jolie Tattoo

Posted by Tattooaholic

angelina jolie back tattoosAmong the many things that the striking beautiful actress Angelina Jolie is good at, you have to list coming up with ideas for personally meaningful tattoos.  While many of us have to search the brain bank of pictures on the internet and strike up conversations with other tattoo enthusiasts, Angelina seems content to ferret ideas from her own mind.

Her amazing body has been decorated with body art for many years. They have no real connection apparently except for the fact that the actress seems to favors dark ink, tribal or Gothic type markings and script.

“Know your rights” is tattooed between Angelina’s shoulders in Gothic script.  This is a song title from a favorite band of hers.

A Buddhist Pali incantation decorates her left shoulder blade. The words appear to be written from the side, so to read the script you need to look at it with your head leaning to the left.  The script is created to look like the shape of Khmer Cambodia’s official language.  This is rumored to be for the protection of Maddox her adopted son who was born in Cambodia.

She has a tattoo in an Arabic font on her right arm.  There is confusion as to whether this says Strength of Will or Determination.  The confusion might be caused by the fact this Angelina Jolie tattoo covers a previous tattoo she made with Billy Bob Thornton.

The Roman number 13 can be seen on her left underarm.  She doesn’t believe in the superstition about the number and wanted to prove it. She also has initials on in this location too, which caused some talk when she first got it, but it turns out this was just a tattoo to express her feelings for Winston Churchill.  The WWII leader proclaimed “I have nothing to offer, but blood, toil, tears, and sweat.”  He made this statement on 13th May 1940.

On her left arm is a quote from writer Tennessee Williams “A prayer for the wild at heart kept in cages.”

She has a Gothic looking cross with the phrase Quod me nutrit me destruit, which is Latin for “What nourishes me, destroys me”.  She got this before marrying her first husband Johnny Lee Miller. Fans often wonder what he thought of that.

Angelina Jolie Tattoo MeaningsOn her wrist she has a small rune style tattoo that looks like an h.  There is a lot of speculation about what this could mean including a reference to her ex-love Timothy Hutton or could it be her brother James Haven this symbolizes?  Of course it could be something only she knows.

The groups of numbers on her shoulder and upper arm written in a straight line running downward are the geographical sites where she first saw her children.

She has a Bengal tiger tattoo on her lower back to commemorate her Cambodian citizenship.

Of course, the canvas of her skin is constantly changing so she might have already found new tattoos to add to her collection. Like many people, she has found the ultimate way to express herself through body art.

A Johnny Depp Tattoo Guide for Fans

Posted by Tattooaholic

johnny depp wino forever tattooCelebrities are often the inspiration for tattoos, this is especially true for Johnny Depp.  If you are a Johnny Depp fan, then you have probably noticed that he has quite a few tattoos.  In fact, he has 13 of them, each with its own unique meaning!  If you want to know more about his tattoos, or are such a big fan that you want to GET a Johnny Depp tattoo on yourself, then you will learn a lot in this guide.

Perhaps his most famous tattoo is the one on his right bicep that reads “Wino Forever.” You probably already know that he used to date Winona Ryder.  Since their relationship obviously didn’t work out, he had the “na” removed from the tattoo.  Johnny Depp also has a head portrait tattoo of a Native American chief located there.

Johnny has a tattoo of a sparrow on his right forearm, with the word ‘Jack.’  Despite what some might think, it has nothing to do with his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow.  It is actually homage to his son Jack.  There’s also a symbol on his forearm that means ‘The Brave.’  On his left bicep, Johnny Depp has a tattoo of an inverted triangle.

johnny depp tattoosAnother one of his most noticeable tattoos is the inscription of his daughter’s name, Lily-Rose, in ornate lettering.  This is placed over his heart, and is visible during the island sequence in POTC:  Curse of the Black Pearl.  From some angles, it looks as if there’s an extra L.  Hopefully, that isn’t the case, since his daughter’s name is spelled Lily and not Lilly!

Some of Johnny Depp’s other tattoos include the number three on his left hand, a skull and crossbones design with the inscription ‘death is certain’ on his right leg; a heart engraved with his mother’s name, Betty Sue, on his left bicep, small rectangles on his right index finger, and a small mysterious symbol on the inside of his right ankle. Johnny claims to have a couple more tattoos that he keeps covered.

Now that you know about his tattoos, do you feel inspired to get one of your own?  Why not just get a Johnny Depp tattoo!?  Many people get images of their favorite celebrities tattooed onto them.  They do this to honor their favorite legend, whether it is Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson or…well… Johnny Depp!  Captain Jack Sparrow tattoos are pretty popular these days, as are Ed Wood and Ichabod Crane. Since he is most famous for his oddball, eccentric character roles, it is not surprising that many people get a Johnny Depp tattoo in the likeness of one of his characters.

If you want to do this yourself, make absolutely certain that you choose the best tattoo artist possible.  Make sure that the one you choose has experience with drawing and inking in faces.  You obviously want the image to resemble Johnny (or one of his characters) as much as possible.
